Not sure if anyone posted about this already. XD But while looking through fan art an idea struck me.

"What if you play as the older brother and not the crying child?"
It makes a lot of sense to me. The brother having nightmares caused by his guilt of what he did. Having flashbacks and dreams of his little brother and what he went through. Then the animatronics being the monsters, like he and his friends were to his little brother. And Fredbear and Nightmare being the Boss type monsters because of what happened to the little brother. *SPOILER WARNING* And the end where he and the friends apologize to the little brother, like in the end of FNaF 3, where the masked children with Marionette find the Golden Freddy child and offer him cake to make him stop crying. Like an apology. *SPOILER END unless you don't know FNaF3*

Another theory separate from the above one, but could be combine together is.
The Marionette child was killed outside in FNaF2, and haunted the Marionette.
The older brother and the bullies were killed later and haunted the old models, due to Marionette putting them there, shown in a mini game. I'm think there was a deal type thing going. With Marionette agreeing to lead the bullies to the little brother 'Now Golden Freddy an empty suit' if they caught the one who murdered them/Marionette.
Who was the older brother dressed as in FNaF4, Foxy. Who seems the most eager to get to the guard in FNaF 1 and 2? Literally tackling the guard in FNaF2. Foxy. It would make sense if he wanted to find and apologize to his little brother for what he and his friends did. The little brother 'Golden Freddy' Stays away from the others, still scared of them, and maybe attacks the guard in a poor attempt to keep the bullies away from the guard. I've never gotten a Golden Freddy jumpscare in game, but I think it crashes your game, and doesn't kill you like the rest. Maybe he's trying to wake the guard, who fell asleep?
Then in he 'Good Ending" Minigame in FNaF3, we see the children give Golden Freddy a cake (who is sitting and crying in a fearful way), and he stops crying and stands. Like he forgave them. Then they pass on.

What do y'all think?

Ending Windows session...

fnaf 1 Golden Freddy crashes the game, while in fnaf 2 he just kills you.
